Home & Business Loss Adjusting

About

Overview

The business was established and launched on 01 September 1998 as a sole proprietorship. In the year 2000 it was officially registered as a close corporation with a female member and until today practice under above name. It is managed by the member, Rodney George, who has over twenty nine years short term insurance experience, specialising in the fields of commercial, personal lines, engineers and marine insurance. Marine insurance is limited to goods in transit and small craft.

The business has grown over the years and we envisage, with the support of insurers, administrators, municipalities and other similar institutions, to grow thereby creating opportunities and training for more loss adjusters to join our organisation and the industry. We are 100% black owned and a registered business. We are also proud to be associated with leading insurance companies, administrators and municipalities. Our practice is one of only three 100% black owned non motor independent loss adjusting companies operating in South Africa.

Client Relations

Our offices are situated in the Cape Town. We however service the entire Western Cape, all areas in the Cape Metropole as well as Cape Winelands, Boland, Platteland to Swellendam, Oudtshoorn, Mossel Bay up to Knysna (Southern Cape) as well as the West Coast, including Northern Cape viz. Vredendal, Springbok, Upington, Prieska to Kimberley as well as Hermanus and surrounding areas.

Normal office hours are from 08h30 – 16h30. We do offer extended after hours service in order to facilitate interviews with working clients and also emergency claims on behalf of insurers. This is a commitment of our service in order to maintain good service standards between insurer and insured. We are aware of the demands placed on insurers i.r.o. urgent and unforeseen claims and minimising losses thus we are prepared to act as facilitator in order not to inconvenience the insured. We maintain that, service, is an important factor as the industry is highly competitive. We also believe that insurers maintain high service levels and we must maintain these same standards if not better therefore we are always contactable and available.

Claims

The fees are structured in terms of agreement with insurer/administrators and in accordance with the nature of claims. Our fees are normally based on flat rates negotiated to suit both parties. In respect of building claims, hourly rates are charged in the event of follow up visits to sites to monitor progress and signing off of repairs. For outlying areas in excess of 30km, a nominal rate of R3.50p/km is charged (negotiable).
We have no limitations to the size or amount of claim. All claims are accepted and handled professionally as we are well equipped and have the necessary expertise to do so.

Vision and Mission

We strive on sound customer relations as this form the basis of a company. We also strive to protect the integrity of insurers in order to maintain and enhance the image and standards set by them as we act on their behalf thereby maintaining a sound portfolio with satisfied clients.

Normal functions undertaken will be the assessment and evaluation of losses i.e. physical inspection, dialogue, establishing validity of claim, determine adequacy of sums insured, check security aspects, check merit and determine quantum and prepare report. In the event of burglaries or theft and malicious damage, we follow up information with SAP. Quotations are obtained from various reputable service providers (preferably on panel or databases). Prices are negotiated in order to minimise expenditure without compromise to quality and service. This is done within the guidelines of current accepted current pricing and building tariffs. Guarantees and after sales service are in place in order to sustain client satisfaction. Service and quality workmanship are also top priority and not affected by negotiated prices. We do have mandates with certain companies to authorise repairs or replace goods thus expediting service delivery to clients. This initiative is covered by our Professional Indemnity insurance.

Our main focus is on service and quality workmanship in terms of repairs effected and replacement of goods as we believe it is an important aspect to maintain a strong client base for insurers (if covered in terms of the policy). Our approach is highly professional and also the same time utilise the opportunity to market the insurer and apply its mission while exercising assessments. A happy client will always take pride in their insurer and even recommend them, which we believe is so vital to the sustenance of insurers.

Appointments are arranged immediately on receipt of instructions to assess. The turnaround time of submission of reports is 48 hours after inspection (basic claim). This is also dependant on the nature and size of a claim e.g. a large fire claim involving specialists and engineers will obviously take longer to finalise than the loss of a claim involving a small burst pipe. Availability of repairers and dealers as well as SAP follow up also affects finalisation as we are dependant on submission of their quotations or reports. We however strive to maintain this turnaround time period and always liaise with insurers regarding developments of claim. It is important to bear in mind that various factors during investigation and assessing through third parties involved, influences the finalisation and can contribute to delays. Finally a report is submitted with recommendations after merit and quantum has been determined.
